Payment Processing
for eCommerce
One of the reasons many people go to eBay to sell products is because they don't know how to make their own
store or accept payment from customers. Fortunately, ecommerce is evolving and there are now a ton of easy
ways to accept payment without big fees or security issues. Here are 3 simple ways to take credit cards on
your own site.
PayPal
Paypal offers a ton of payment processing solutions from basic Website Payments Standard, to a full blown
merchant account. Depending on how much customization you need, you can accept credit cards on your site with
no monthly fees and low transaction fees. A PayPal account isn't even required to pay!
Google Checkout
Google Checkout is Google's payment solution for ecommerce. It works similar to PayPal in that it
integrates with your shopping cart to allow customers to pay on their secure server, then sends them back to
you. They do not stay on your site for payment, but rather get directed to a payment page, then sent home
after completion. Some people may not like having customers leave the site, but its a very cheap solution
with no monthly fees.
Amazon Payments
Amazon now also has a payment solution for private ecommerce sellers. It's a simple solution where the
customer gets sent to Amazon's secure payment area when ready to check out, then gets sent back to you after their
done. People trust Amazon, so its a great option. An Amazon account isn't required, but makes checkout
quick if you do have one. This is another cheap solution with no monthly fees.
